When Should Homework Be Accomplished?

Homework encourages students to be independent in so much as they manage their academic workloads. This is part of their preparation for working life. It is important that students are not overloaded with homework on any one evening since this can lead to stress for the student. To avoid this students are advised to complete their homework on the night(s) allocated to the subject. English teachers will record the completion of homework once per week, giving the student one full week to complete that week’s work. Students should manage themselves to ensure that they have the required information in their daybooks available to maintain such records (e.g. spelling scores, the names of texts used in reading sessions etc). If the daybook yields no evidence of homework accomplished then it is assumed that no homework was done by the student.
