Find two sets of print based and moving image advertisements selling the same type of product but targeted at different audiences. Annotate the adverts for presentational devices, linguistic devices and structural devices. For each device try to explain the impact on the target audience, what it suggests about the product / brand and how effective it is. Screen shots or timings can be used to analyse the moving image advertisements. (Glossary of useful media terms)

Use this information to write a comparative essay. (Writing frame for less confident pupils.)

Design a print-based and moving image advertisement for a product of your choice. (Storyboard attached.)

Try to present your designs to someone from your target audience, ask them for feedback and make notes about what they say.

Write a commentary explaining the process of designing and the choices you have made. How is your design persuasive? How does it meet the needs of your target audience? How effective do you think your designs are? (Use your interview notes to help you with this.)
6)
Use Writing Filter to check the accuracy of your commentary. Create an accurate, neat copy to hand in to your English teacher for assessment.
7)
Repeat steps 3 – 7 for the same product but a different target audience.
